i'm wondering whether anyone else is trying to sift through the big world wide web looking for team singapore's progress at the 2008 beijing paralympics.. anyway here's how we're doing at swimming so far:
yesterday (sunday) theresa goh swam in the women's 100m freestyle - S5 final, clocking a time of 1:32:92, coming in 6th, bettering her time in the heats, and behind the winner Perales who had a new world record of 1:16:65. she's scheduled to swim the 200m freestyle - S5 tomorrow (tuesday) at 10.15am, with the final for that event at 7.13pm on the same day.
clearly my resolution to post everyday went ka-putt.. i got bored of it quick hehe.. anyway i just found this game that i just can't seem to stop playing.. it's just so annoying that i can't beat it!!!! it seems the only way to overcome this game is if i learn to not be greedy and do too much.. to not go ahead of myself and to learn to let some things go.. wise game this one..
*edit: i finally broke the 200 mark!! my current highscore stands at 269.95
** edit again: so the flash doesn't work on my computer unless i load it on the site first.. which is dumb.. but here's the link .. the game's called beat the meter.. i can't stop playing.. i think the reason y i'm so bad is coz i can't help but try to steal those extra few seconds too many.. if u beat my score.. i dun wanna know
-Day 18: San Jose -> Yosemite NP
-> Mariposa, California
owoke up kinda late (11-ish) again..
and dorothy brought us to this korean tofu house for lunch.. it was really
good. (with all these little-kid drawings on the wall.. they were really
cute..) and the owner was all smiles.. and gave us a pack of gum on the way
out.. then looked thru dorothy's 8-9th grade pix (hahahaha) then we left around 2.. ( i remember coz that's when kristine
called me hehe) got to yosemite around 6.. and we drove around the park.. went
to the village and did our grocery and gift-store shopping.. then headed out as
the sun was setting.. took forever to get out of the park though (we tried
following really close to the mpv in front of us to try to figure out what they
were watching.. we finally settled on 'mean girls' haha) no motels in the town
just outside of yosemite (can't remember the name) so we had to drive an extra
like 30 miles to mariposa
ooh man!! scary! so steve was driving
down this one-lane highway.. and we were all really tired.. and it was really
dark.. didn't help that all these towns around yosemite were really small and
deserted.. then there was this white truck in front of us that started braking
everytime steve got too close.. so he finally passed them one time.. then they
turned their high-beams on and had them on the entire way.. but i was asleep..
we *finally* got to mariposa.. and steve started driving by all these motels..
me and doogs were like 'what are you doing?' steve: i'm gonna try to lose them
first.. so he made a random right (which pretty much led to nothing) and the
guy followed us!! AHHH so he made another right.. and the guy still followed..
ok so one more right.. then he left *phew* haha turns out (pun unintended) that
we turned into a street with sheriff and probation cars parked everywhere.. so
time to find a motel.. finally settled on motel 8 (since it was the cheapest..
at a whopping 65! man thatlady..
(indian) wouldn't stop talking.. but she was nice enough to give us 3 beds..
haha we moved in.. had dinner.. and me and steve checked out the pool but it
was cold.. showered and slept..
ok maybe i shd clarify some stuff.. haha yes dorothy is right.. i have no life.. it's been a year back home and i still have no life.. i think i've taken a total of like 5 pictures since i've been home.. so the only thing i could think of to post was abt the roadtrip i took a year ago.. in commemoration of the freedom i won't see again anytime soon.. bitter much? haha aite i'll spare you guyz the whining.. yup so i'll be posting from my log i wrote a year ago.. kinda like a 'this day a year ago' kinda thing.. not too interesting.. but it fills up the space.. oh yeha jaimsterz u and graceypoo can use it for reference for your copycat grad trip if you want
-Day 17: San Francisco baby!
owoke up at 11-ish (!) and headed out
(yay for dorothy driving..) we started out at fisherman's wharf (after driving
through the city.. including castro
street with the biggest rainbow flags ever)..
which meant in-and-out for lunch for me again yay!! doogie came with me since
he didn't like seafood (doogie: you know that in-and-out is just a
burger.. just a burger?!?! although he did say that before he tried that delicious goodness.. )eventful
walk back to meet steve and dorothy at the crab station.. first i bought some souveneir thing for the mother.. my goodness the silly
cashier girl firstly couldn't understand me.. secondly took so long to let me
pay and give me back change.. but while waiting.. saw (heard i think would be
more accurate) these 2 boys rounding the corner and tearing down the street..
carrying a tray .. later found out from doogie that they just took the tray
outside the store.. where i actually got what i bought.. so that was a little
unsettling.. then as we were walking down saw a bunch of ppl staring across the
street.. took a while to figure out what they were staring at.. we found the
bush man!! (or branch man as fuj called him) haha it was the funniest thing
ever! he just sat behind his bush.. and scared everyone (esp the ladies) that walked
by.. these couples would innocently walk by.. and BOO! hahahaha.. and he has a
bucket and people throw money in it.. haha those poor suckers didn't see it
coming.. met up with steve and dorothy.. and walked down pier 39.. looks like..
a typical pier with stores and stuff.. had the street theatre (can't remember
the guy's name.. but he was just ok anywayz) then we went to watch the seals..
(haha we were wating for the seals to push each other off.. but they were just
there 'art, art, art, art')
odrove around the city.. (up and
down.. vertically hehe) finally found lombard..
curviest street EVER! haha and sooo many tourists.. of course we were there
taking pictures too.. drove down.. and walked back up.. a couple more ups and
downs.. then off to golden gate! haha took a photo same place we did last time
i was there 10 years ago.. and began the 2-mile hike.. that was a lot of fun..
just talking and walking and randomly stopping to take pictures.. happy and relaxing.. there's something to being out in the open..
odrove to chinatown.. had to ask
where the gate was (since it was so hilly and so big we couldn't see it even
though we knew it was on grant ave).. took pictures and walked around.. found a
bakery where i had curry puff and dorothy got to try chicken pie.. then we
realized we were running late so we headed back.. to ma-something-something
chinese restaurant (run by muslims.. so no pork).. had dinner with dorothy's
family there.. (lots of spicy food.. the tofu and egg was really good too)..
then jamba juice!! (felt bad though coz after that never got the opportunity to
thank dorothy's parents for dinner, for letting us stay... and didn't say
goodbye).. then headed back watched the Rock (since we saw the real Alcatraz) while doing my
laundry..
